COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO 1 PROPOSED TO

     AMEND on Line 36 by striking the following language "may appoint a financial advisor, and may" and inserting in lieu thereof the word "shall"

     AMEND FURTHER on Line 38 after the word appointed by inserting "by the state superintendent.  However, if the disclaimer is a result of conditions caused by Hurricane Katrina 2005 and applies to fiscal years 2005 and/or 2006, then the Superintendent of Education may appoint a financial advisor, and may direct the school district to immediately cease all expenditures until a financial advisor is appointed." 

     AMEND FURTHER on Lines 40 and 41 by striking "Unless otherwise directed by the State Board of Education,"

     AMEND FURTHER on Line 41 by capitalizing the "t" in the word "The"

     AMEND FURTHER on Line 42 after the word shall by inserting the following:  "with the approval of the State Board of Education"
