A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CELEBRATING THE CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY OF THE MARION COUNTY COURTHOUSE.

     WHEREAS, Marion County has a rich history, with a wonderful record of revering and restoring historical artifacts and facilities such as the Marion County Courthouse; and

     WHEREAS, this is an opportunity to accentuate and acknowledge the unique history of Marion County by highlighting the centennial celebration of the Courthouse which began in 1905 and was completed December 17, 1906; and

     WHEREAS, the Marion County Courthouse stands as a symbol of hope, justice and democracy for the citizens of Marion County; and

     WHEREAS, it is the intent of this Legislature to develop an appreciation of the history and splendor of the Courthouse and peak public interest in maintaining its appeal; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the historical character that is associated with the Marion County Courthouse:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Marion County Courthouse.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the administrator of the Marion County Courthouse, the Marion County Board of Supervisors and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
