A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING FATHER GEORGE KITCHIN OF GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF ORDINATION TO PRIESTHOOD.

WHEREAS, Father George Kitchin, 62, a native of Greenwood, Mississippi, was ordained in Greenwood for the Diocese of Natchez-Jackson on June 13, 1970; and

WHEREAS, after his ordination for the Diocese of Natchez-Jackson, Father Kitchin's dedicated career and appointments are a matter of record: June 13, 1970, Date of Arrival in Diocese; July 18, 1970, Vicar Substitute to Gulf Coast Missions; August 1, 1970, Appointed Assistant Pastor, Our Lady of the Gulf, Bay St. Louis; September 8, 1972, Associate Pastor, Sacred Heart, Pascagoula; September 1, 1976, Associate Pastor, Our Lady of Fatima, Biloxi; January 19, 1978, Permission granted to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves; February 1, 1982, Appointed First Pastor of St. Matthew the Apostle, White Cypress; January 14, 1988, Appointed Pastor, St. Elizabeth Seton, Ocean Springs (effective February 5, 1988); May 18 1994, Granted three-year extension at St. Elizabeth Seton; October 15, 2001, Appointed to a two-year term on the Priest Personnel Committee; February 2, 2002, Appointed Pastor, St. James, Gulfport; August 1, 2002, Appointed member of Deacon Formation Committee for a three-year term; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the vital, outstanding service of Father George Kitchin of Gulfport, Mississippi, who has ministered to the needs of his parish, his community and his state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Father George Kitchin of Gulfport, Mississippi, on his 35th Anniversary of Ordination to Priesthood, and extend to him the best wishes of the Senate on this auspicious occasion.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Father Kitchin and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
