Senate Resolution 15

(As Adopted by Senate)

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHWEST RANKIN HIGH SCHOOL "COUGARS" GOLF TEAM FOR WINNING THE CLASS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Northwest Rankin High School "Cougars" Golf Team won the Class 5A State Title; and

WHEREAS, Northwest Rankin clinched the state title after winning third place in the District 6 5A Championship; and

WHEREAS, the team excelled in tournament play, securing second place in the Brookhaven Invitational, the Vicksburg Invitational, the Big Blue Invitational, as well as the Northwest Invitational Tournament; and

WHEREAS, team members Michael Gregory and Robert Ford were recognized for their Top Ten performance in their seventh place win at the State 5A Tournament; Michael Gregory was also a co-medalist at the Vicksburg Invitational; and

WHEREAS, the team greatly benefited from the outstanding leadership of Coach Jay Jordan; and

WHEREAS, Coach Jordan's comment was: "This team had tremendous ambition and heart. The senior leadership of Michael Gregory and Robert Ford demonstrated hard work, integrity and moral character, and all players made an enormous contribution to the winning season"; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the Cougars' outstanding achievement which has brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northwest Rankin "Cougars" Golf Team for winning the State 5A Golf Championship, and extend to the Cougars and Coach Jordan the best wishes of the Senate for success in their future athletic and academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Jordan as well as the Principal of Northwest Rankin High School and be made available to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
