AN ACT TO DIRECT THE STATE FISCAL OFFICER TO TRANSFER CERTAIN AMOUNTS OF THE MCI, INC., SETTLEMENT MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF INCREASING STATE EMPLOYEE AND PUBLIC UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE EMPLOYEE SALARY LEVELS BY $1,000.00; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The State Fiscal Officer shall transfer general funds in the amounts listed below to the specified agencies and accounts held in the State Treasury during the period beginning upon the passage of this act:
Funds are provided to adjust the Variable Compensation Plan, including realignment, to ensure that all full-time employees under the State Personnel Board, and also including the Institutions of Higher Learning and the State Community and Junior Colleges, with at least six (6) month of continuous current service, as of June 30, 2005, receive an increase of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00).
State Employees $16,051,500.00
IHL Employees $17,276,000.00
Community College Employees $ 7,154,000.00
Other Employees $ 662,112.00
TOTAL $25,595,212.00
(2) It is the intent of the Legislature to transfer certain funds paid into the State General Fund by MCI, Inc., on behalf of itself and reorganized debtors as the settlement payment and release under Chapter 11 Case No. 02-13533, for the purposes provided in subsection (1).
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
