House Resolution 3

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MOOREVILLE HIGH SCHOOL TROOPERS BASEBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON OF PLAY FOR 2004-2005 AND WINNING THE CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Mooreville High School Troopers Baseball Team finished the 2004-2005 season with an impressive record of 31 wins and only 9 losses, winning the Class 2A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, standout members of the Troopers squad include: Chip Hussey, Chris Lucius, Zack Boren, Jason Howell, Curtis Brock, Kelby Comer, Josh Chism, Peter Vance, Alan Roye, Adam Carnathan, Blake Whitt, Dallas Hall and Ben Kingsley, all of whom have set the standard for sports excellence, academic achievement and community involvements with affiliations with such organizations and honors as Hall of Fame, student council, honor roll, Who's Who Among American High School Students and Beta Club; and

WHEREAS, the Troopers have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Rex Berryman, Assistant Coaches Jamie Russell, Derek Thompson and Patrick Comer, who have broadened the team's knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, a self-disciplined and self-motivated team, the Troopers have been supported in their athletic endeavors and can attribute much of their success to the many parents, fans and supporters whose moral and spiritual encouragement have remained fervent throughout the season; and

WHEREAS, they have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Mooreville High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Mooreville High School Troopers Baseball Team and their coaches for their phenomenal 2004-2005 season, for winning the Class 2A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mooreville High School, Head Coach Rex Berryman, Assistant Coaches Jamie Russell, Derek Thompson, Patrick Comer and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
