Senate Amendments to House Bill No. 1701
TO THE CLERK OF THE HOUSE:
THIS IS TO INFORM YOU THAT THE SENATE HAS ADOPTED THE AMENDMENTS SET OUT BELOW:
AMENDMENT NO. 1
Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
SECTION 1. The governing authorities of the City of Pass Christian, Mississippi, in their discretion, may contribute to the capital building fund of the Humane Society of South Mississippi, a not-for-profit corporation, in the amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) to be appropriated over three (3) calendar years for the acquisition of land in Gulfport, Mississippi, and construction thereon of modern and expansive facilities to house its animal shelter to receive and care for stray, lost and unclaimed animals in a humane way, and to carry out all of the Humane Society's needed functions and public services.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF PASS CHRISTIAN, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE FUNDS TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF SOUTH MISSISSIPPI, TO PURCHASE LAND TO CONSTRUCT AN ANIMAL SHELTER AND FACILITIES TO CARRY OUT THE SOCIETY'S FUNCTIONS AND PUBLIC SERVICES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
