Senate Amendments to House Bill No. 189

 

TO THE CLERK OF THE HOUSE:

 

  THIS IS TO INFORM YOU THAT THE SENATE HAS ADOPTED THE AMENDMENTS SET OUT BELOW:

 

 

AMENDMENT NO. 1

 

     Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

 

     SECTION 1.  (1)  That portion of Mississippi Highway 43 located in Leake, Madison and Rankin Counties beginning at the western corporate limits of the Town of Sandhill, in Rankin County, and extending northerly to the Leake/Attala County line, is designated and shall be known as the "Joe A. Waggoner Memorial Highway."

     (2)  The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate markers along and approaching the segment of highway described in subsection (1) of this section.

     SECTION 2.  (1)  The bridge spanning the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway on U.S. Highway 82 in Lowndes County west of Columbus is designated and shall be known as the "Donald G. Waldon Bridge."

     (2)  The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate markers at the bridge.

     SECTION 3.  (1)  That segment of Mississippi Highway 35 in Covington and Jefferson Davis Counties beginning at its intersection with U.S. 84 and extending southerly to its intersection with Mississippi Highway 42 is designated and shall be known as the "Major General Buford C. Blount III Highway."

     (2)  The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching that segment of Mississippi Highway 35.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

     Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

 

     AN ACT TO DESIGNATE A CERTAIN PORTION OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 43 LOCATED IN LEAKE, MADISON AND RANKIN COUNTIES AS THE "JOE A. WAGGONER MEMORIAL HIGHWAY"; TO DESIGNATE THE BRIDGE SPANNING THE TENNESSEE-TOMBIGBEE WATERWAY ON U.S. HIGHWAY 82 IN LOWNDES COUNTY AS THE "DONALD G. WALDON BRIDGE"; TO DESIGNATE A PORTION OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 35 AS THE "MAJOR GENERAL BUFORD C. BLOUNT III HIGHWAY"; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
