A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MARSHALL ACADEMY JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL "PATRIOT" BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH KEITH TAYLOR FOR THEIR UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONSHIP 2004-2005 SEASON.
WHEREAS, the Marshall Academy Junior High School "Patriot" Boys Basketball Team from Holly Springs, Mississippi, finished the 2004-2005 season with a perfect 26-0 record; and
WHEREAS, the Patriots culminated this undefeated by capturing the Mississippi Private School Association District 1, Class AA Tournament Championship; and
WHEREAS, the team is under the leadership of popular Head Coach Keith Taylor and Assistant Coach Ron Asplund; and
WHEREAS, the team roster is as follows: Hunter Bolden, Colby Curtis, Spencer Autry, Brent Adams, Harris Gholson, Bradley Reece, Justin Gray, Josh Sharp, Andrew West, Stevie Brigance, Taylor Dempsey, Tyler Sanders, Anderson Sawyer, Justin McMullen, Robbie Lundine, Kyle Young, Jake Paylor, Taylor Skelton, Head Coach Keith Taylor, Assistant Coach Ron Asplund, Cheer Coach Lauren Strider, and Cheerleaders: Jessica Taylor (Captain), Brittney Tomlinson (Co-Captain), Randi Bishop, Hannah Boatwright, Emily Burk, Olivia Clanton, Hannah Cook, Micaela Delashmit, Regan Murphy, Erica Owen and Molly West; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the accomplishments of this group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Marshall Academy Junior High School "Patriot" Boys Basketball Team from Holly Springs, Mississippi, and Head Coach Keith Taylor for their undefeated championship 2004-2005 season, and extend to them the best wishes of the Senate for success in their future academic and athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Taylor and Headmaster Tommy Gun and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
