A RESOLUTION COMMENDING VIVIAN CHAMBERS FOR HER MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED AND PROFESSIONAL WORK FOR THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE.
WHEREAS, Vivian Chambers came to work at the Mississippi Senate in 1978 at the suggestion of Sue Denny, longtime Comptroller for the Senate. Vivian worked as the Senate Receptionist on the switchboard, working every session and special session until 2003, for a total of 25 years; and
WHEREAS, Vivian was everyone's favorite Senate employee; she was very professional. She always went out of her way to be helpful to everyone, Senators, lobbyists and the public; and
WHEREAS, Vivian was married to George Chambers on September 15, 1948, and they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary with a wonderful party in September 1998. Vivian and George have two children, Tom Chambers of Jackson, Mississippi, and Dianne Chambers, who lives in El Paso, Texas. They have six beautiful grandchildren: Christian and Daniel Chambers of Jackson; and Matthew, Jamie, Kasey and Michael of El Paso, Texas. Kasey is a championship soccer player and Vivian spends many hours watching the grandchildren in their various sports activities. She is extremely proud of her grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Vivian is an avid golfer, playing in numerous tournaments around the state. She loves flowers, especially growing them. She, along with the help of the groundskeeper, grew beautiful daylilies in the green space at The Manor, where they live; and
WHEREAS, Vivian loves people and has many friends in all walks of life. She and her husband, George, attend Colonial Heights Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, the success of the legislative process in our Mississippi Senate depends in great measure upon the dedication of Senate employees like Vivian, who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Vivian Chambers for her many years of dedicated and professional work for the Mississippi Senate, and express to her and her family the best wishes of the Senate for her speedy recovery and return to us.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Vivian Chambers and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
