Senate Bill 3034

AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF GENERAL FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF ALCORN STATE UNIVERSITY AND MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AYERS SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT, FOR FISCAL YEAR 2005.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of defraying the expenses of Alcorn State University and Mississippi Valley State University, in accordance with the Ayers Settlement Agreement, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2005..............................................$5,600,000.00.

SECTION 2. Of the funds appropriated in Section 1, no more than One Million Eight Hundred Thousand Dollars ($1,800,000.00) shall be expended by Alcorn State University for Summer Development Programs, Diversity Scholarships and Diversity Program Enhancements, and no more than One Million Eight Hundred Thousand Dollars ($1,800,000.00) shall be expended by Mississippi Valley State University for Summer Development Programs, Diversity Scholarships and Diversity Program Enhancements.

SECTION 3. The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers, in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
