House Resolution 91

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF JOHN DALE DUMAS, D.M.D., AND CONGRATULATING HIM UPON BEING NAMED AS A RECIPIENT OF THE 2005 MISSISSIPPI "TOP 40 UNDER 40" HONOR.

WHEREAS, John Dale Dumas, D.M.D., a 33-year-old Prentiss, Mississippi, native and an alumnus of the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School, Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry, was recently selected as one of Mississippi's 2005 "Top 40 Under 40" honorees; and

WHEREAS, during his years at Mississippi State, Dr. Dumas was a Student Government Association Senator, student recruiter, elder statesman, Vice President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, and during his years of study at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry, he was an orientation director, student advisory board member and junior class president; and

WHEREAS, for two years he served as a staff dentist in the United States Public Health Service Cherokee Indian Hospital in Cherokee, North Carolina, before opening a family dental practice in McComb, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, after only five years of practice in Mississippi, Dr. Dumas has become an integral part in the fabric of the community, serving as Secretary of the McComb Rotary Club, which named him Rotarian of the Year in 2000, board member of the Healing Hearts Foundation and the McComb Chamber of Commerce, member of the Pike County Arts Council and President of the Fernwood Men's Golf Association; and

WHEREAS, professionally, Dr. Dumas is Past President of the University Medical Center School of Dentistry Alumni Association and of the 6th District Mississippi Dental Association (MDA), and currently chairs MDA's New Dentist Committee and is an alternate to its board of trustees; and

WHEREAS, a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where he serves as chairman of evangelism, member of the building committee, choir member, and certified lay speaker, Dr. Dumas is an advisory board member of Trustmark National Bank and a member of the McComb Main Street Association; and

WHEREAS, described as a man of unquestionable integrity, Dr. Dumas has been supported and encouraged in all his endeavors by his wife, Jennifer Smith Dumas, and children, Jack and Lacey; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence in such remarkable individuals as Dr. Dumas, whose diligence and commitment to success is evidenced by his many accomplishments:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate John Dale Dumas, D.M.D., upon being named a recipient of the 2005 Mississippi "Top 40 Under 40" honor and extend our wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to John Dale Dumas, D.M.D., and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
