House Resolution 68

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE OAK GROVE HIGH SCHOOL WARRIORS BASEBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON OF PLAY FOR 2003-2004 AND WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITY ASSOCIATION CLASS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Oak Grove High School Warriors Baseball Team finished the 2003-2004 season with an impressive record of 30-7, winning the Mississippi High School Activity Association (MHSAA) Class 5A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, in addition to winning their second consecutive MHSAA Class 5A title and eighth overall state title, the Warriors also clinched the Division 5-5A and South State championships; and

WHEREAS, members of the Warriors squad include: Hayes Singleton, Zack Harrington, Grant Hogue, Davis Smith, Marshall Greer, Linwood Bubar, John McWhorter, Ryan Norton, Drew Ezell, Blaine English, Kyle Lee, Kyle Sellers, Chance Robertson, Michael Sanders, Brett Ashley, John David Childs, Hendrick Leverette, Kyle LaPorte, Joey Davion, Rod Shows, Tom Hudson, Hunter Jackson, Matthew Curtis, Dax Graham and Cullen Tatum; and

WHEREAS, the Warriors have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Harry Breland, Assistant Coaches Jonathan Robertson, Jimmy Agent and John Chancelor, who have broadened the team's knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, a self-disciplined and self-motivated team, the Warriors have been supported in their athletic endeavors and can attribute much of their success to the many parents, fans and supporters whose moral and spiritual encouragement have remained fervent throughout the season; and

WHEREAS, they have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Oak Grove High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Oak Grove High School Warriors Baseball Team and their coaches for their phenomenal 2003-2004 season, for winning the MHSAA Class 5A Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Oak Grove High School, Head Coach Harry Breland, Assistant Coaches Jonathan Robertson, Jimmy Agent and John Chancelor and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
