A RESOLUTION COMMENDING PAUL A. LACOUR, III, ON THE HONOR OF RECEIVING THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD.
WHEREAS, Paul A. LaCour, III, of Latimer, Mississippi, will have the honor of receiving the Eagle Scout Award on March 29, 2005, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church Parish Hall in Vancleave, Mississippi, on his 16th birthday; and
WHEREAS, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Anderson LaCour, Jr., Paul is a member of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Troop 271 of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, through his years of being a Boy Scout, Paul has earned the required merit badges to fulfill his duties and obligations of maintaining and promoting the mission and vision of the Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, adhering to the Scout Oath and abiding by the Scout Law, Paul was able to earn this coveted award by advancing his knowledge, leadership skills, organizational skills, and community service, while gaining support from the community, his peers and his family; and
WHEREAS, Paul's Eagle Scout project consisted of proposing, designing, laboring and supervising the construction of a Rosary Garden at Christ the King Catholic Mission in the Latimer Community to be used by church members for prayer, gatherings and teaching religion classes; and
WHEREAS, as a Boy Scout, he has contributed over 100 hours of community service, earned 34 merit badges, gone on 90 overnight campings, hiked over 80 miles and has completed more than 325 requirements in leadership, first aid, outdoor skills, physical fitness, citizenship and environmental training; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Paul A. LaCour, III, on the honor of receiving the Eagle Scout Award and express our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Paul A. LaCour, III, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
