House Resolution 27

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING DANIEL JOSEPH PAYNE ON ACHIEVING THE HONOR OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD.

     WHEREAS, Daniel Joseph Payne of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, will have the honor of receiving the Eagle Scout Award on April 24, 2005; and

     WHEREAS, the son of Joe and Lisa Payne, Daniel is a member of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Troop 271 of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, through his years of being a Boy Scout, Daniel has earned the required merit badges to fulfill his duties and obligations of maintaining and promoting the mission and vision of the Boy Scouts of America; and

     WHEREAS, adhering to the Scout Oath and abiding by the Scout Law, Daniel was able to acquire this coveted honor by advancing his knowledge, leadership skills, organizational skills, hours of community service, as well as support from the community, peers and family; and

     WHEREAS, Daniel's Eagle Scout project consisted of planning, organizing and working on the restoration of a bird sanctuary for the Gulf Hills Garden Club; and

     WHEREAS, in conjunction with his scout tasks, Daniel has also enjoyed the benefits of scouting including having participated in several exciting adventure trips through scouts such as the National Boy Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, the ten-day hike at Philmont Scout Camp in New Mexico and the ten-day Northern Tier Canoeing Adventure in Minnesota; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Daniel Joseph Payne on receiving the honor of the Eagle Scout Award and express our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Daniel Payne and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
