House Resolution 21

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. CECILIA FRISBIE UPON HER SELECTION AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Cecilia Frisbie, a resident of Vancleave, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC)to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Frisbie, a developmental mathematics instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past nine years and has taught for the past thirteen years; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Frisbie, who received her bachelor of science and her master of education degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi, has served as a member of the District Graduation Committee, contact for the Jackson County Campus Electronic Gradebook, volunteer for the annual blood drive event, co-chair of the 2005 Jackson County Campus United Way campaign and leader of the American Heart Walk; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of the MGCCC Leadership Development Program and the Jackson County Campus Master Teacher Program, Mrs. Frisbie earned Fellowship status and Starfish membership at the Mid South Community College Fellowship Program, in addition to having developed online beginning algebra and mathematics for elementary teachers, assisted with local math tournaments and instructed pilot math programs; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend such outstanding teachers as Mrs. Cecilia Frisbie, who has dedicated her career to teaching the young people of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Cecilia Frisbie upon her selection as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Frisbie and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
