House Resolution 19

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MR. JASON ROSS UPON HIS SELECTION AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, Mr. Jason Ross, a resident of Wiggins, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of his distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ross, a mathematics instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past three years and has taught for the past ten years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ross, who received his associate of arts degree from MGCCC, bachelor of science and master of education degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi, serves as a member of the District Graduation Task Force, Recruitment/Retention Committee, Perkinston Campus Judicial Committee, Instructional Affairs Council and Auxiliary Board of the Credit Union; and

WHEREAS, co-sponsor for the Perkinston Campus Scholars Bowl Team, Delta Pi Epsilon Club, Future Educators of America Club and member of the Test Proctoring Committee for Distance Education, Mr. Ross is a member of the Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics, District V representative, National Council and Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics, vice president of Coast Council of Teachers of Mathematics and secretary of the Louisiana-Mississippi Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend such outstanding teachers as Mr. Jason Ross, who has dedicated his career to teaching the young people of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Jason Ross upon his selection as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Ross and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
