House Resolution 15

A RESOLUTION HONORING MR. ALEX AND MRS. ETHEL BROWN ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR 75TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY.

WHEREAS, it is with great personal pride and pleasure that Mr. Alex and Mrs. Ethel Brown are congratulated on the occasion of their 75th wedding anniversary, February 12, 2005, and, in recognition thereof, they will be honored by family, friends and well-wishers with a gala anniversary celebration; and

WHEREAS, Alex and Ethel have been faithful members of the community, and their commitment to each other is surpassed only by their commitment to Jesus Christ, thus creating a partnership that is an inspiration and example to others; and

WHEREAS, Alex and Ethel have shared the accomplishments, joys and sorrows encountered in a life of mutual dedication and devotion. They have been blessed with nine children: Mable (Jimmie), Lula, Alex, Jr., Joe Louis (Doretha), Alvania, Sylvia (James), Charles (Rosalind), George (Dorothy) and Roland (Frances); and continue to enjoy life to the fullest, rejoicing in the love of their 27 devoted grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi, to recognize the commitment Mr. and Mrs. Brown have shown to one another by upholding the most sanctified union between two human beings, the institution of marriage:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That Mr. Alex and Mrs. Ethel Brown are congratulated on the occasion of their 75th wedding anniversary, commended for achieving a long and happy marriage blessed with children and rich in friendships and extend sincere best wishes for continued happiness and good health.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. and Mrs. Brown and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
