House Concurrent Resolution 30

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE, ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF ADRIAN GORDON LEE, SR., AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, former State Representative, Adrian Gordon Lee, Sr., departed this life on June 6, 2004, at the age of 74, to enter into eternal rest with his heavenly father, causing great sorrow and loss to his family and friends; and

     WHEREAS, born August 3, 1929, in Pinola, Mississippi, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Porter Shelby Lee, Mr. Lee lived the earlier portion of his life in Sondheimir, Louisiana, graduated from Lake Providence High School and attended Northeast College in Monroe and Louisiana Tech in Ruston; and

     WHEREAS, a real estate broker, political activist, pilot and self-employed businessman, Mr. Lee was previously employed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers; and

     WHEREAS, from 1964-1968, Mr. Lee served in the Mississippi House of Representatives as an independent candidate while he lived in Natchez; and

     WHEREAS, dedicated to serving the community, Mr. Lee was well-known for helping to strengthen the Republican Party's presence in Jackson County and Ocean Springs, Mississippi, serving as a Republican municipal chairman in Ocean Springs for 20 years and life member of the 1699 Historical Committee in Ocean Springs; and

     WHEREAS, a former member of the Jackson County Republican Executive Committee, Mr. Lee served on the Mississippi State Oil and Gas Board, the Board of Directors and Deputy Director of Pat Harrison Waterway District, was a member of the Masonic Harmony Lodge and the Grand York Rite Bodies of Mississippi and charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star #394; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Lee, who was a keen horseman and private pilot, was a member of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association, the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association and the Pilots International Association; and

     WHEREAS, as one who expressed an unselfish and endless love for family, Mr. Lee's legacy and memory will continue to thrive in the hearts of his survivors, including:  Joan Alsup Lee, his wife of 51 years; children, Adrian, Jr., Charmaine and Carolyn; four grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; and a host of other relatives and friends; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend excellence in the lives of such outstanding Mississippians as Mr. Lee, whose life was filled with the virtue of giving back to the community:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life of Mr. Adrian Gordon Lee, Sr., and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Lee and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
