AN ACT TO ESTABLISH A PILOT PROGRAM TO OFFER ITALIAN LANGUAGE CLASSES TO STUDENTS IN GRADES KINDERGARTEN THROUGH TWELVE; TO PROVIDE A REPEALER FOR THE PILOT PROGRAM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) There is established within the State Department of Education a pilot program to offer Italian language classes to students in kindergarten through Grade 12 in two (2) school districts in the state, subject to the appropriation of sufficient funds for the program. The school districts shall be selected by the Department of Education.
(2) This section shall stand repealed July 1, 2006.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2005.
