AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT A WOMAN WHO GIVES BIRTH THROUGH IN VITRO FERTILIZATION SHALL BE CONSIDERED TO BE THE BIOLOGICAL MOTHER OF THE CHILD FOR ALL LEGAL PURPOSES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Any woman who gives birth to a child through in vitro fertilization shall be considered to be the child's biological mother for all legal purposes. The woman from whom the eggs are harvested for the in vitro fertilization procedure shall not have any legal rights or connection to the child nor shall the child have any legal rights or connection to such woman.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2005.
