A RESOLUTION COMMENDING KIM BLACKWELL UPON HER TOP TEN FINISH IN THE 2004 MISS MISSISSIPPI PAGEANT AND FOR HER DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE AS 2004 SENIOR PAGE.

     WHEREAS, Kim Blackwell, the daughter of Ronald and Jan Blackwell of Union, Mississippi, competed in the 2004 Miss Mississippi Pageant and garnered a top ten finish; and

     WHEREAS, Kim is a 2003 graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Broadcast Communication; and

     WHEREAS, while attending Mississippi State University, Kim was an honor student, was on the President's List and Dean's List and was a member of the Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society; and

     WHEREAS, Kim was Mississippi's Junior Miss second alternate and was Neshoba County's Junior Miss; and

     WHEREAS, Kim competed in the 2003 Miss Mississippi Pageant, where she was the winner of the preliminary swimsuit competition and was a top ten finalist in the pageant; and

     WHEREAS, Kim was awarded the 2004 Mary Hawkins Butler Scholarship and is the current holder of the Miss Deep South title; and

     WHEREAS, Kim ably served the Mississippi Senate as a Senior Page during the 2004 Regular Session:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Kim Blackwell upon her top ten finish in the 2004 Miss Mississippi Pageant and upon her many other accomplishments and wish her success in her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Kim Blackwell and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
