A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CLARKDALE HIGH SCHOOL "LADY BULLDOGS" GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM AND COACH RICK ROBERSON FOR WINNING THE 2004 CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Clarkdale High School Girls Softball Team, the "Lady Bulldogs," have finished the 2004 season by winning the Class 2A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, on their way to the State Championship game, the Lady Bulldogs compiled an outstanding record of 26 wins and 4 losses, won the South State Regional Championship and the Merchants & Farmers' Bank Invitational Tournament held in Clinton, Mississippi, and were runner-up in the Division 6 Championship Tournament; and

     WHEREAS, the following team members were recognized for their outstanding play during the season and post-season:  Emily Howard, Senior, All-State; Megan Potate, Senior, All-State; Brandi Wright, Senior, All-State; Casey Meador, Senior, All-State; and Kimbo Seale, Sophomore, All-State; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Bulldogs are ably led by Coach Rick Roberson and Assistant Coaches Britt Bennett, Morris Stamm and Robbi Cooper; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Bulldogs have a great tradition of excellence in post-season play, and it is with great pride that we recognize the consistent accomplishments of this group of student athletes, who bring honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Clarkdale High School "Lady Bulldogs" Girls Softball Team and Coach Rick Roberson for winning the Class 2A State Championship and for their outstanding 2004 season, and extend to them the best wishes of the Mississippi Senate for success in their future athletic and academic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Roberson on behalf of the team, be forwarded to the Principal of Clarkdale High School and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
