A RESOLUTION COMMENDING L. KENDALL MCKENZIE, M.D., UPON COMPLETING HIS TOUR OF DUTY IN IRAQ SERVING AS A BATTALION SURGEON.

     WHEREAS, L. Kendall McKenzie, M.D., recently completed his tour of duty as a Battalion Surgeon in the 3rd Battalion 124th Infantry of the Florida Army National Guard; and

     WHEREAS, L. Kendall McKenzie was activated January 2, 2003, and was on active duty for 365 days; and

     WHEREAS, L. Kendall McKenzie was stationed in Baghdad for his tour of duty and is ranked Captain; and

     WHEREAS, L. Kendall McKenzie will be graduating from his Emergency Medicine Residency on June 19, 2004, at which time he will become a full-time faculty member in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and

     WHEREAS, L. Kendall McKenzie will serve as the Director of Research and Development for the TelEmergency Program and also as the Assistant Residency Director at the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and

     WHEREAS, the Mississippi Legislature finds it most appropriate to recognize and commend the diligence of this veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom for his devotion to duty and to his state and nation to secure and insure peace for all:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend L. Kendall McKenzie, M.D., upon completing his tour of duty in Iraq serving as a Battalion Surgeon and we welcome him back to the State of Mississippi.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to L. Kendall McKenzie and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
