A RESOLUTION COMMENDING WILLIAM J. PHILLIPS, M.D., UPON COMPLETING HIS TOUR OF DUTY IN IRAQ SERVING AS A BATTALION COMMANDER.
WHEREAS, William J. Phillips, M.D., recently completed his tour of duty as a Battalion Commander in the 2nd Battalion 20th Special Forces Group of the Mississippi Army National Guard; and
WHEREAS, William J. Phillips was activated January 2, 2003, and was on active duty for 365 days; and
WHEREAS, William J. Phillips was stationed in Uzbekistan and Afghanistan for his tour of duty and is ranked Lieutenant Colonel; and
WHEREAS, William J. Phillips is a faculty member in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he serves as the Medical Director of Disaster Preparedness, as well as being a faculty member of the Department of Anesthesiology where he serves as the Residency Director; and
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Legislature finds it most appropriate to recognize and commend the diligence of this veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom for his devotion to duty and to his state and nation to secure and insure peace for all:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend William J. Phillips, M.D., upon completing his tour of duty in Iraq serving as a Battalion Commander and we welcome him back to the State of Mississippi.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to William J. Phillips and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
