A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE RICHARDSON-DEUSCHLE FAMILY REUNION ON JULY 4, 2004, THE OCCASION OF THE 51ST ANNIVERSARY OF THIS FAMILY'S MOVE TO MISSISSIPPI.
WHEREAS, Dorothy (Dodie) Cecelia Richardson was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 7, 1913; and
WHEREAS, Edwin (Ed) Bryant Deuschle was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on May 20, 1915; and
WHEREAS, they eloped on Thanksgiving Day, and were married in Wellsburg, West Virginia, on November 30, 1933; and
WHEREAS, they had four children: Judith Gail, Sandra Lee, Diane Janet and Edwin John, each being born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Ed Deuschle worked with Pittsburgh Gas and Meter Company, which later became Rockwell Manufacturing Company, and later became Rockwell International; and
WHEREAS, the family moved to Tupelo, Mississippi, in June 1953 as part of the industrialization of the South when Rockwell Manufacturing company opened its Tupelo plant; and
WHEREAS, the family became an integral part of North Mississippi, including Ed's work as Chief Engineer for Rockwell and Dodie's work as Secretary to the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Dodie died in Tupelo, Mississippi, on November 23, 1983, and Ed died in Tupelo on October 14, 1998; and
WHEREAS, their legacy and influence will extend through their family long after their death; and
WHEREAS, the Deuschle's have 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Ed and Dodie Deuschle had a strong love of family, commitment to God and sense of patriotism; and
WHEREAS, their influence has extended through their succeeding generations in Tupelo, in Mississippi, throughout the United States and to the uttermost parts of the earth; and
WHEREAS, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will gather in reunion over the weekend of July 4, 2004, to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the family's move to Mississippi; and the lives and contributions of this family to the state's welfare and well-being are significant:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Dorothy (Dodie) Cecelia Richardson-Edwin (Ed) Bryant Deuschle Family Reunion on July 4, 2004, which is the occasion of the 51st anniversary of this patriotic family's move to Mississippi, and extend to them the best wishes of the Mississippi Senate.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented at this family reunion and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
