House Resolution 19

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING CATHEDRAL HIGH SCHOOL GREENWAVE BASEBALL TEAM UPON ITS OUTSTANDING 2003-2004 SEASON AND WINNING THE CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Cathedral High School Greenwave Baseball Team had an outstanding year, finishing the 2003-2004 season with a remarkable record of 29 wins and only 4 losses; and

WHEREAS, showcasing immense talent, the Greenwave have brought great honor and pride to Cathedral High School by winning the 2004 Class 1A State Championship, the Vidalia Tournament Championship, the District 7 Regional Championship and the South State Championship; and

WHEREAS, for their superior play, many individual honors have been bestowed on several members of the Greenwaves Team, including the naming of Te Riley to the All-State, All-District and All-Star Teams and as All-Metro Player of the Year; the selection of Jeremy Davis, Garrett Jones, Corey Walker and Wyler Murray to the All-State and All-District Teams; and

WHEREAS, the Greenwaves have been superbly coached and inspired this season by Head Coach Craig Beesley, Assistant Coaches Ken Beesley, Mark McCann and Gary Jones, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, Coach Beesley has brought additional honor and pride to himself and to Cathedral High School upon being named All-Metro Coach of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the Greenwaves have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach, and bring honor to Cathedral High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Cathedral High School Greenwave Baseball Team and their coaches for their outstanding 2003-2004 season, for winning the Class 1A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Cathedral High School, Head Coach Craig Beesley, Assistant Coaches Ken Beesley, Mark McCann and Gary Jones, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
