House Resolution 12

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE JACKSON PREP PATRIOTS BASEBALL TEAM UPON ITS OUTSTANDING 2003-2004 SEASON AND WINNING THE Mississippi PRIVATE SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (MPSA) CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Jackson Prep Patriots Baseball Team had an outstanding year, finishing the 2003-2004 season with 27 wins, only 8 losses, ranked No. 2 in The Clarion-Ledger Mississippi Private School Association (MPSA) poll and winning its second consecutive state title; and

WHEREAS, showcasing immense talent, the Patriots have brought great honor and pride to Jackson Prep by winning the 2003-2004 MPSA Class AAA State Championship; and

WHEREAS, members of the 2003-2004 Patriots Team are: Breland Applewhite, Harrison Hood, Drew Maddox, Hunter Owen, Joseph Queen, Jo Jo Tann, Christian Barnes, Brett Benson, Brantley Davidson, Tait Hendrix, Daniel Luter, Kyle Moore, Ryan Peets, David Steele, Swayze Waters, Rob Carpenter, Jay Davis, Rob Gathings, Wallace McLaurin, Ben Molpus, Ty Owen, Doug Schneider and Ryan Selman; and

WHEREAS, the Patriots have been superbly coached and inspired this season by Head Coach Trey Bayliss and Assistant Coaches Luis Campos and Marcus Canoy, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Patriots have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Jackson Prep; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Jackson Prep Patriots Baseball Team and their coaches for their outstanding 2003-2004 season, for winning the MPSA Class AAA State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Jackson Preparatory School, Head Coach Trey Bayliss, Assistant Coaches Luis Campos and Marcus Canoy, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
