A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING LAUREL MACHINE AND FOUNDRY COMPANY ON THE OCCASION OF ITS 100TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF BEING IN BUSINESS.

     WHEREAS, the Laurel Machine and Foundry Company of Laurel, Mississippi, founded in 1904, will celebrate its 100th year anniversary on May 27, 2004; and

     WHEREAS, owned and operated by Gene and Trent Mulloy, Laurel Machine and Foundry is one of the oldest family-owned manufacturing companies in Mississippi, established in 1904 as a manufacturer and supplier of metal parts for the Lindsey Eight-Wheel Wagon; and

     WHEREAS, Laurel Machine and Foundry currently employs 150 people, with over 800 customers in 33 states, serving major customers as Nissan-Canton, Masonite, Georgia Pacific, Taylor Machine Works, Howard Industries, Hood Industries, ACIPCO, American Valve and Hydrant, Goodyear and ESCO-Newton; and

     WHEREAS, over the course of these past 100 years, Laurel Machine and Foundry has incorporated the following operations into its business practices, including:  steel service centers, plate and structural fabrication, manual and CNC machining, iron foundry and industrial mill supplies; and

     WHEREAS, committed to excellence in customer support and service, Laurel Machine and Foundry has a rich history of hard work, dedication and customer satisfaction which has attributed to its continued success throughout the years; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the services and success of such a progressive business as Laurel Machine and Foundry:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Laurel Machine and Foundry Company on the occasion of its 100th year anniversary and extend our heartiest wishes for much continued success in all its business endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Laurel Machine and Foundry Company and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
