A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MISS MELISSA LINDSAY "MISSY" MAY ON BEING SELECTED AS MADISON COUNTY'S MISS HOSPITALITY 2004 AND FOR HER MANY DISTINGUISHED ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

     WHEREAS, Miss Melissa Lindsay "Missy" May, daughter of Rusty and Cheryl May of Madison, Mississippi, was selected by Mayor Hawkins Butler of Madison and the Madison Board of Alderman as Madison County's Miss Hospitality 2004 to serve as the county's representative in the state competition and goodwill ambassador in the areas of tourism and economic development; and

     WHEREAS, a fifteen-year resident of Madison, Mississippi, Miss May is a 2002 graduate of Madison-Ridgeland Academy (MRA), where she participated in Youth Legislature, drama club, French club, Key club and cheerleading, in addition to being named to Who's Who Among American High School Students, the United States Achievement Academy National Honor Roll, MRA Honor Roll and serving as member of the American Cheerleader Magazine Advisory Board, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Patriot Post Newspaper Staff; and

     WHEREAS, as a junior communications major at Mississippi College, Miss May continues to maintain her active involvement in volunteerism and service through participation in NT Social Tribe, SGA House of Representatives, Mississippi College "Naturals," Mississippi College Senate Student Business Relations Committee and BSU in addition to serving as sophomore homecoming maid; and

     WHEREAS, Miss May, a member of the Church of the Highlands, began her volunteer services when she was six year of age, which have continually expanded throughout her life as she has served on the Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi Rat Pak, "Mississippi Showstoppers," Student Volunteer for the City of Madison Chamber of Commerce, "Valentines Serenader" for the City of Madison Parks and Recreation, and founded "HappieHats"; and

     WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi finds it most appropriate to recognize and commend excellence, especially by a young person, such as Miss May, who has made outstanding accomplishments that will, in turn, better the great State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do commend Miss Melissa Lindsay "Missy" May on being selected Madison County's Miss Hospitality 2004 and for her many distinguished accomplishments, and we wish her much success in the state level of competition as she serves as Madison County's goodwill ambassador to promote the tourism industry and economic development.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Miss Melissa Lindsay "Missy" May and the Capitol Press Corps.
