AMENDMENT NO 1 PROPOSED TO

Cmte Sub for House Bill No.  850

BY: Representatives Barnett, Holland

     AMEND on line 19 by deleting the word "This" and inserting in lieu thereof the following language: "Sections 1 through 6 of this"

     AMEND FURTHER on lines 21, 25, 53 and 62 by inserting the following language before the word "this": "Sections 1 through 6 of"

     AMEND FURTHER by inserting the following new Section 7 after line 78 and renumbering the following section:

     "SECTION 7.  (1)  The State Board of Pharmacy may establish and maintain a controlled substances prescription monitoring program, which may be an electronic system for monitoring the dispensing of controlled substances in the state. 

     (2)  The board may contract with a vendor to establish and maintain the electronic monitoring system under guidelines promulgated by the board.

     (3)  The board may promulgate such rules and regulations as necessary to implement the program."

     AMEND FURTHER the title on line 17 by inserting the following language after the semicolon:

"TO PROVIDE THAT THE STATE BOARD OF PHARMACY MAY ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES PRESCRIPTION MONITORING PROGRAM, WHICH MAY BE AN ELECTRONIC SYSTEM FOR MONITORING THE DISPENSING OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES IN THE STATE;"
