House Amendments to Senate Bill No. 2969

 

TO THE SECRETARY OF THE SENATE:

 

  THIS IS TO INFORM YOU THAT THE HOUSE HAS ADOPTED THE AMENDMENTS SET OUT BELOW:

 

 

 

AMENDMENT NO. 1

 

     AMEND on line 309 by inserting the word "and" after the semicolon.

     AMEND FURTHER by striking lines 310 through 343 in their entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following new paragraph:

          "(mm)  To collaborate with the State Board of Education, Community Action Agencies or the Department of Human Services to develop and implement a voluntary program to provide services for a full day prekindergarten program that addresses the cognitive, social, and emotional needs of four-year-old and three-year-old children.  The school board may utilize non-state source special funds, grants, donations or gifts to fund the voluntary program."

     AMEND FURTHER the title to conform by striking lines 2 through the word "provisions" on line 8 and inserting in lieu thereof the following:  "TO AUTHORIZE LOCAL SCHOOL BOARDS TO COLLABORATE WITH THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCIES OR THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT A VOLUNTARY PROGRAM TO PROVIDE SERVICES FOR A FULL DAY PREKINDERGARTEN PROGRAM"
