A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MR. PEARL L. FRAZIER OF UTICA, MISSISSIPPI, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS 105TH BIRTHDAY.
WHEREAS, Mr. Pearl L. Frazier of Utica, Mississippi, was born on May 1, 1899; and
WHEREAS, he was one of ten children born to Vander Frazier and Susan Page Frazier; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pearl. L. Frazier has had the distinction of living in three different centuries (1800's, 1900's and 2000); and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pearl L. Frazier was born when William McKinley was President of the United States of America and Anselm Joseph McLaurin was Governor of the State of Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Frazier's life has spanned the administration of nineteen United States Presidents from William McKinley to George W. Bush; thirty-five United States Attorney Generals and twenty-eight Mississippi Governors from Anselm Joseph McLaurin to Haley Barbour; and
WHEREAS, a very successful farmer, Mr. Pearl L. Frazier was taught how to plow by his father, Mr. Vander Frazier, when Theodore Roosevelt was President of the United States of America and when James K. Vardaman was Governor of the State of Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, born with a special gift of conversation, Mr. Pearl L. Frazier met the love of his life, Miss Ida Mae Davis, at church and convinced her to become his wife; and
WHEREAS, the union of the two lovebirds lasted fifty-four years until she was called home to be with the Lord; and
WHEREAS, four lovely children were born to this union, Mae Pearl, Alexander (deceased), George (deceased) and Helen; and
WHEREAS, he was blessed with six lovely grandchildren, Djon M. Frazier Gentry, CIH, Yvette Frazier Gentry, M.D., Regina Frazier (deceased), Ricky Frazier (deceased), Alexander Frazier, Jr. and Willie Dixon; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pearl Frazier has also been blessed with four great-grandchildren, Djon Lourdes Gentry, Sean Gentry, Jasmine Gentry and Alexander Nicholas Harlon; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pearl Frazier is a Prince Hall Mason and continues to assist and give advice in his community; and
WHEREAS, this servant of God is a member of Little Mount CME Church in Utica, Mississippi, where he has served as a Steward and Class Leader; and
WHEREAS, this family icon has witnessed many historic events during his lifetime, including the invention of the automobile by Henry Ford, the Wright Brothers' first airplane flight and man's walk on the moon; and
WHEREAS, this humble servant contributes his long life to "obedience and serving the Lord"; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Senate to recognize such outstanding Mississippians as Mr. Pearl L. Frazier, whose longevity is filled with treasures of wisdom and history and attributable to healthy living, hard work, respect for his fellowman and strong religious convictions:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Pearl L. Frazier on the occasion of his 105th birthday and extend our heartfelt wishes for many more years of good health, peace, happiness and an overflowing abundance of love and joy.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Pearl L. Frazier, his children, Mae Pearl Frazier Hunter, Helen Frazier Gentry and to the members of the Capitol Press Corp.
