A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING ROBERT D. "BOBBY" SIMS UPON BEING SELECTED AS MISSISSIPPI'S MUSIC EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR.
WHEREAS, Robert D. "Bobby" Sims was selected as Mississippi Music Educator of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Sims was selected by his peers at Terry High School as Teacher of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Sims was then selected as Hinds County Teacher of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Sims' much deserved recognitions come after 22 years of dedicated service to his students and his profession; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Sims received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Music Education from Delta State University; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Sims served as Junior High State Music Chairman, in charge of all junior high activities in the state from 1996 to 1998; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Sims served as Junior High Repertoire and Standards Chairman for 1996 to 2003; and
WHEREAS, he presently serves as High School Repertoire and Standards Chairman; and
WHEREAS, under Bobby Sims' direction the Terry High School Choir has consistently performed at superior levels and achieved outstanding results in competitions; and
WHEREAS, he is especially proud that Terry High School has made the Mississippi High School Activities Association's "Wall of Fame" for the past 6 years; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his work at Terry High School, he has served as Music Director for the Marvin United Methodist Church in Florence for 14 years; and
WHEREAS, he has worked as host and clinician for a number of music festivals and judged numerous state competitions; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Senate to recognize and commend the outstanding service of Mississippians such as Robert D. "Bobby" Sims:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Robert D. "Bobby" Sims upon being selected as Mississippi Music Educator of the Year and wish him continued success in his teaching endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Robert D. "Bobby" Sims, to the Principal of Terry High School and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
