A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND DEDICATED COMMUNITY SERVICE AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF RUSSELL A. QUAVE AND EXPRESSING OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY UPON HIS PASSING.
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave, a native and lifelong resident of the D'Iberville and Biloxi area, died Monday, March 1, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave was a visionary leader for D'Iberville and was instrumental in laying the groundwork for D'Iberville to become a city; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave was Valedictorian of the first graduating class of Notre Dame High School in 1944; and
WHEREAS, he graduated from Perkinston Junior College in 1946; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave was a devout member of his faith who devoted countless hours to Catholic causes; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave served as President of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Council, Commentator and member of the Finance Committee; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave was a Eucharistic Minister and was a co-founder of the Gulf Coast Rosary Rally, serving as Chairman of the rally for 17 years; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave received the Bishop's Service Cross Award from Bishop Joseph Lawson Howze in 1984 and he received two Papal Blessings; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave was a man of integrity known for his commitment to his community and for his tireless service in the civic affairs of the community; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave was founder of the North Bay Civic Association; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave was instrumental in establishing a public water and sewer system in D'Iberville and served on its board from its inception; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave served on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Board for 18 years; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave was a banker and retired in 1992 as Vice President of the Peoples Bank of Biloxi; and
WHEREAS, Russell A. Quave is survived by two daughters, Sister Cheryl Marie Quave, Sister of Mercy, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Laurie Rosetti and her husband, Bryan, of Biloxi; a son, Mayor Rusty Quave and his wife, Sue Harwell Quave, of D'Iberville; four grandsons, Jason Quave of Jackson, Bronson Quave of Starkville, Bryan Rosetti, Jr. and Dylan Rosetti of Biloxi; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Senate to recognize and commend the dedicated service and contributions of Mississippians such as Russell A. Quave who devoted his life to serving his faith and his community:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life, dedicated service and contributions of Russell A. Quave and express our deepest sympathy to his family.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Russell A. Quave.
