A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING EIGHT MOSS POINT HIGH SCHOOL BOY SCOUTS FOR THEIR RECEIPT OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD, AND RECOGNIZING TROOP MASTER HARRY MCDONALD FOR HIS EXEMPLARY LEADERSHIP.
WHEREAS, the following Moss Point High School students and members of Troop Number 220 are receiving the Eagle Scout Award in ceremonies on Sunday, February 8, 2004:
Richard Perkins
Casey Baker
David Beatty
Douglass Fontaine
Garrett Busby
Garrin Gore
Robert Waller
Taylor Lane; and
WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout Award is the highest ranking awarded by The Boy Scouts of America, and is the culmination of many years of dedicated work in the scouting program by the recipient; and
WHEREAS, these young gentlemen are multitalented students, who are members of athletic teams and academic societies; and
WHEREAS, the Scout Master for Troop 220 is Harry H. McDonald, who has been the leader and role model for young men in this troop for at least 27 years. During this period of time, Mr. "Mac" has led 70 scouts to the rank of Eagle Scout, which is a most impressive accomplishment, and represents a legacy of public and charitable service to his community; and
WHEREAS, Troop 220 is sponsored by the Moss Point Rotary Club, who together with the parents of these eight Eagle Scouts, are justifiably proud of these young men who serve as role models to other youth in their community, and who have brought honor to their families, their school and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That with great pride we do hereby commend and congratulate eight members of Moss Point Boy Scout Troop 220 upon their receipt of the prestigious Eagle Scout Award, and commend and congratulate Scoutmaster Harry H. McDonald for his 27 years of exemplary scouting leadership, and wish to each of them success in their future scholastic, athletic and scouting endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the family of each of the eight Eagle Scouts and Scoutmaster Harry McDonald and be made available to The Sun Herald and the Capitol Press Corps.
