A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE DEDICATED SERVICE OF BERNARD G. MCGINLEY AND CONGRATULATING HIM UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.
WHEREAS, Bernard G. McGinley will officially retire after 48 years of dedicated and honorable federal service on January 23, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Bernard G. McGinley was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on November 15, 1935, the 12th of 13 children; and
WHEREAS, he graduated from Malden Catholic High School in Malden, Massachusetts, in June 1953; and
WHEREAS, he enlisted in the Air Force on June 30, 1955; and
WHEREAS, he arrived at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, for Automatic Tracking Radar Maintenance training and served there from November 1955 until July 1956; and
WHEREAS, he was assigned to Westover Air Force Base, Massachusetts, and was cross-trained in teletype operations and then stationed at Sondrestrom Air Force Base in Greenland; and
WHEREAS, during his active duty, he served at bases overseas and on the mainland; and
WHEREAS, he was hand-selected to set up a new communications center for the Air Technical Intelligence Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, he returned to Keesler Air Force Base in October 1968 to attend Computer Maintenance School and stayed through Hurricane "Camille"; and
WHEREAS, he retired from active duty in September of 1975; and
WHEREAS, after retiring from active duty, he began his federal civil service career in August 1976 at the Veterans Administration Center in Biloxi, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, he returned to Keesler Air Force Base in April 1982; and
WHEREAS, he served in the Traffic Management Office and the Quality Assurance Section; and
WHEREAS, he served as Quality Assurance Inspector from May 1987 until the present; and
WHEREAS, in 1962 he married the "Love of his Life", Phyllis Moxley; and
WHEREAS, they have been married for 41 years and their union was blessed with three sons and one daughter, and they have six grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Senate to recognize the dedicated service of the citizens of the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the dedicated and honorable service of Bernard G. McGinley and congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Bernard G. McGinley.
