A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REVEREND DR. HORACE L. BUCKLEY ON THE CELEBRATION OF HIS 35THANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR OF CADE CHAPEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH.
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Horace L. Buckley began his ministerial career thirty-five years ago in 1969 at the Cade Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Buckley has provided a level of religious leadership in his congregation that is worthy of public recognition and serves as an example to the entire citizenry of the State of Mississippi of what is best in the human spirit when rooted in the belief and faith in God; and
WHEREAS, having received his bachelor of science degree from Mississippi Valley State University, Dr. Buckley furthered his educational career by attending Tuskegee Institute, where he obtained his master of education degree, and his doctor of divinity degree (Honoris, Causa) from both Natchez College and the Mississippi Baptist Seminary; and
WHEREAS, men of faith such as Dr. Buckley are rare in these times of social and moral decline in America but nevertheless serve to uphold everything that is good and right about this country as examples to every other citizen of what this nation is capable of being when spiritual foundation is built on faith in God; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Dr. Buckley, Cade Chapel constructed a $1.2 million Family Life Center, which houses an array of ministries and serves the community where the church is located; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Buckley served in the House of Representatives from 1976-1991, representing House District 70, and serving on the committees for Apportionment and Elections, Education, Judiciary B, Penitentiary, Appropriations, Executive Contingent Funds, and Local and Private Legislation; and
WHEREAS, an active member of many community and religious organizations, including the Jackson District Association, board member of the General Missionary Baptist State Convention and Assistant General Secretary of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Buckley has been lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his faithful wife, the former Myra Beamon; their four children, Horace, Carol LaJune, Cedric and Reginald; and five grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize such outstanding Godly leaders as Dr. Buckley, who has dedicated his long and distinguished career to bringing many souls to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Reverend Dr. Horace L. Buckley on the occasion of his 35th anniversary celebration as pastor of Cade Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and extend our heartiest wishes for God's continuous blessings and for much success in all his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Reverend Dr. Horace L. Buckley and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
