A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MRS. MARY E. ERRINGTON FOR HER CONTINUOUS DEDICATED SERVICE AS A PROOFREADER FOR THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND FOR HER EXHIBITING EXTRAORDINARY KINDNESS TO LEGISLATIVE STAFF AND MEMBERS.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Mary Errington, affectionately known as "Miss Mary," has faithfully served as a part-time proofreader for the Mississippi House of Representatives for nearly nine consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, a native of Neshoba County, Mississippi, Mrs. Errington was born July 13, 1921, and graduated from high school in 1939, and from Draughons Business College in 1941; and
WHEREAS, before being employed by the House, for over forty years Mrs. Errington utilized her business degree by serving as a bookkeeper for various companies, a profession requiring great detail and skill; and
WHEREAS, beginning with her employment with the Mississippi House of Representatives as a proofreader in November of 1995, Mrs. Errington has exhibited excellence in ensuring that House bills are error proof and comply with all applicable formatting rules; and
WHEREAS, Miss Mary is not only a dedicated and proficient proofreader, she also exhibits genuine kindness to all of her fellow House staffers, and this is demonstrated by her tradition of cooking a magnificent Christmas dinner, with all the trimmings, for House staff and members; and
WHEREAS, in addition to being a contributing member of the
House staff, Mrs. Errington is a member of the Florence Church of God, where she has served in the Ladies Auxiliary, and she is a previous member of Congregational Fellowship Church, where she faithfully served as a church secretary and as a children's Sunday School teacher; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Errington is the widow of the late James Errington, the proud mother of two children, Linda and Howard, the grandmother of four and the great-grandmother of four, all of whom have supported her in her many endeavors; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pleasure that this legislative body recognizes and commends Mrs. Mary E. Errington for her zeal as a proofreader, and for her invaluable service in helping ensure that the legislative process runs smoothly:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Mrs. Mary E. Errington on her dedicated, committed and excellent service as a proofreader for the House and for exhibiting extraordinary kindness to the legislative staff and members.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Mary E. Errington and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
