AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 49-11-5, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT FEES COLLECTED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE, FISHERIES AND PARKS FROM THE ISSUANCE OF SHOOTING PRESERVE LICENSES AND COMMERCIAL WILDLIFE ENCLOSURE LICENSES SHALL BE DEPOSITED INTO A SPECIAL FUND IN THE STATE TREASURY AND EXPENDED ONLY FOR DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE DEPARTMENT IN PAYING THE SALARIES OF AND PROVIDING UNIFORMS FOR CONSERVATION OFFICERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 49-11-5, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
49-11-5. (1) The fee for a shooting preserve license or a commercial wildlife enclosure license shall be One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per year for the first three hundred (300) acres of shooting preserve area or commercial wildlife enclosure area, and Ten Dollars ($10.00) per year for each additional one hundred (100) acres or parts thereof.
(2) The fees collected under subsection (1) of this section shall be deposited in a special fund in the State Treasury to the credit of the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and may be expended only for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the Department in paying the salaries of providing uniforms for conservation officers.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2004.
