AMENDMENT No. 1 PROPOSED TO

                             Senate Bill NO. 2979

                             By Senator(s) Minor

     AMEND by striking lines 109 and 110 and insert in lieu thereof the following:

     SECTION 4.  Equipment used in the deployment of broad band technologies that is placed in service after July 1, 2003, shall be exempt from ad valorem taxation for a period of ten (10) years after the date such equipment is placed in service.  For

     FURTHER, AMEND the title by striking the language after the semicolon on line 17, by striking line 18 in its entirety and by striking line 19 through the semicolon, and insert in lieu thereof the following:

TO PROVIDE THAT EQUIPMENT USED IN THE DEPLOYMENT OF BROAD BAND TECHNOLOGIES THAT IS PLACED IN SERVICE AFTER JULY 1, 2003, SHALL BE EXEMPT FROM AD VALOREM TAXATION FOR A PERIOD OF TEN YEARS AFTER THE DATE SUCH EQUIPMENT IS PLACED IN SERVICE;
