AMENDMENT No. 1 PROPOSED TO

                             Senate Bill NO. 2475

                             By Representative(s) Committee

     Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

 

     SECTION 1.  (1)  That bridge on U.S. Highway 45 which spans Mississippi 19 in Meridian, Mississippi, shall be known and shall be designated as the "Military Order of the Purple Heart, Department of Mississippi, Memorial Bridge."

     (2)  The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs approaching each end of the bridge described in subsection (1) of this section reflecting its name, and shall allow officers or official representatives of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Department of Mississippi, to affix a memorial plaque at some suitable location on the bridge.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2003.

     Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

 

     AN ACT TO DESIGNATE THAT BRIDGE ON U.S. HIGHWAY 45 WHICH SPANS MISSISSIPPI 19 IN MERIDIAN, MISSISSIPPI, AS MILITARY ORDER OF THE PURPLE HEART, DEPARTMENT OF MISSISSIPPI, MEMORIAL BRIDGE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
