REPORT OF CONFERENCE COMMITTEE

 

MADAM PRESIDENT AND MR. SPEAKER:

 

   We, the undersigned conferees, have had under consideration the amendments to the following entitled BILL:

 

S. B. No. 3009:  City of Meridian; authorize the sale of treated effluent water from city's wastewater treatment facility.

 

  We, therefore, respectfully submit the following report and recommendation:

 

 

  1.  That the House recede from its Amendment No. 1.

 

  2.  That the Senate and House adopt the following amendment:

 

     Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

 


     SECTION 1.  The governing authorities of the City of Meridian, Mississippi, are authorized and empowered, in their discretion, by resolution duly adopted and entered on their minutes, to:

          (a)  Enter into contracts and agreements for a term of not to exceed thirty-five (35) years for the sale of treated effluent water from the City of Meridian's wastewater treatment facilities; and

          (b)  Prescribe rates at which treated effluent water shall be sold.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.


     Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

 


     AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, MISSISSIPPI, TO ENTER INTO CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS FOR A TERM NOT TO EXCEED 35 YEARS FOR THE SALE OF TREATED EFFLUENT


WATER FROM THE CITY'S WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITIES AND TO PRESCRIBE RATES AT WHICH TREATED EFFLUENT WATER SHALL BE SOLD; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
