REPORT OF CONFERENCE COMMITTEE
MADAM PRESIDENT AND MR. SPEAKER:
We, the undersigned conferees, have had under consideration the amendments to the following entitled BILL:
S. B. No. 2906: Appropriation; Department of Corrections; Additional FY 2003.
We, therefore, respectfully submit the following report and recommendation:
1. That the House recede from its Amendment No. 1.
2. That the Senate and House adopt the following amendment:
Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
SECTION 1. In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the Budget Contingency Fund created in Section 27-103-301, Mississippi Code of 1972, not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the Mississippi Department of Corrections for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2003. $ 20,000,000.00.
This additional appropriation is made for the purpose of preventing a deficit which would otherwise occur. The funds appropriated under the provisions of this section shall be allocated as follows:
Support.............................$ 950,682.00
Medical Services....................$ 64,497.00
Regional Facilities.................$ 1,572,296.00
Local Confinement...................$17,412,525.00
TOTAL...............................$20,000,000.00
SECTION 2. Of the funds appropriated under the provisions of Section 1 and allocated in Section 2, Two Million Eight Hundred Ninety-eight Thousand Three Hundred Eighty-eight Dollars ($2,898,388.00) shall be used to pay the expenses of counties for holding state prisoners in county jails during Fiscal Year 2002.
SECTION 3. The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
