A RESOLUTION COMMENDING SENATOR GLENN HAMILTON FOR HIS OUTSTANDING LEGISLATIVE RECORD AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.
WHEREAS, State Senator Edwin Glenn Hamilton, a Republican from Maben, Mississippi, is completing 8 years representing District 15 which includes parts of Webster, Choctaw, Montgomery and Oktibbeha Counties; and
WHEREAS, Senator Hamilton has indicated that he will not run for re-election at the expiration of his present term, in order to seek other elective office; and
WHEREAS, in Glenn Hamilton, the residents of District 15 have lost an honest, dependable State Senator with unquestioned integrity; and
WHEREAS, Senator Hamilton is Vice Chairman of the County Affairs Committee, and has served with distinction on the Agriculture, Appropriations, Economic Development, Tourism and Parks, Highways and Transportation, Judiciary and Universities and Colleges Committees, this committee experience representing substantial legislative influence; and
WHEREAS, he was a champion of law enforcement, consistently supporting legislation to support the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Bureau of Narcotics and local law enforcement officers; and
WHEREAS, Senator Hamilton attended Maben High School and East Mississippi Community College, is a tree farmer and active member of the Baptist Church, and belongs to the Mississippi Farm Bureau, the Lions Club, the Starkville Quarterback Club, the Shriners, the Starkville Chamber of Commerce, the American Legislative Exchange Council, and he is dedicated to his wife, Linda, and child, Paisley; and
WHEREAS, Senator Hamilton served with distinction and we will miss his friendship:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the public service of District 15 State Senator Glenn Hamilton of Maben, Mississippi, and wish him and his family continued success in their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Glenn Hamilton and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
