A RESOLUTION URGING LAW ENFORCEMENT PROFESSIONALS TO CLARIFY THE PROCEDURE BY WHICH A BAIL BONDSMAN IS TO RETURN A DEFENDANT WHO IS ARRESTED OR HELD ON CHARGES IN A FOREIGN JURISDICTION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES."
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That the law enforcement profession is urged to interpret Section 99-5-27, Mississippi Code of 1972, to provide that, upon release from incarceration in a foreign jurisdiction, a bail bondsman is to return a defendant at no cost to the county or by reimbursing the county the reasonable cost of the return of the defendant where the foreign jurisdiction will not release a defendant to any person other than a law enforcement officer.
