Senate Resolution 24

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MS. CLEMENTINE WILLIAMS FOR HER CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FIELD OF EDUCATION AND CONGRATULATING HER UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, Ms. Clementine Williams has been an outstanding contributor to the field of education for 40 years; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Clementine Williams served the Pass Christian Public School District for 23 years as a teacher and principal; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Clementine Williams was highly respected by her students and their parents; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Clementine Williams is active in her community, serving as President of her local branch of the NAACP which she helped start in 1974; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Clementine Williams is also a dedicated member of her church, St. Rose de Lima; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Clementine Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Alcorn State University and a Master of Arts Degree from Tennessee State University; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Clementine Williams has served her profession and community through service in a number of organizations, including:  Mississippi Association of Elementary Principals, Mississippi Association of Educators, Chairman of Hancock County Library Board of Trustees, Gulf Coast Alcorn Alumni Association (past president), Hancock County NAACP, Bay St. Louis Planning and Zoning Commission, St. Rose Altar Society and St. Rose Parish  Council; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Clementine Williams retired at the end of the 2001-2002 school year; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Senate of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend the contributions of outstanding educators such as Ms. Clementine Williams:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Ms. Clementine Williams for her contributions to the field of education and congratulate her upon the occasion of her retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Ms. Clementine Williams.
