A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING JEROME JACKSON UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY PATROL AND FOR HIS CIVIC LEADERSHIP.
WHEREAS, Mr. Jerome Jackson of Kemper County, Mississippi, is retiring from the Mississippi Highway Patrol after serving with distinction since 1978; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson is extremely active in local civic and service organizations and the Kemper County School System since 1989, having served on the Kemper County Chamber of Commerce Board, as Director of Safety for all Headstart training involving buses, teachers and students, as Safety Director for the Kemper County School District, on the Kemper County Rehabilitation Board, on the West Kemper Kiddie Kollege Board of Directors, as Director of the Mt. Salem Volunteer Fire Department Fundraiser, on the God Cares Ministries Board of Directors and is active in the Meridian and Kemper County Chapter of the VFW; and
WHEREAS, Master Sergeant Jackson has compiled an outstanding record with the Air National Guard 186th Refueling Wing in Meridian, Mississippi, where he has been assigned since 1974, and as Human Resource Advisor was awarded the Outstanding Airman of the Year Award and the Outstanding Senior NCO award by mentoring young Airmen to attain the highest standards of the Air National Guard, and has participated in the following deployments in support of his former Security Police Section squadron: Desert Shield Desert Storm, Hawaii Hickham AFB, 1996 Olympics, Operation Enduring Freedom, Hurricane George Disaster, and his job performance ratings in military duty have been exemplary; and
WHEREAS, most recently Sergeant Jackson was winner of the Air National Guard Senior NCO Award, Mississippi Senior NCO Award, and is currently a candidate for the National Award for Leadership. He has received the Local Senior NCO Award of the Year by Key Field ANG Base and by the State ANG Headquarters, and has been entered twice for the Diversity Award for teaching and promoting diversity in the military, and Sergeant Jackson is an articulate and positive spokesman for the Air Force; and
WHEREAS, Jerome Jackson is the brother of the distinguished Senator from Kemper County, Senator Sampson Jackson; and
WHEREAS, it is with pride that we note this milestone in the career of a Mississippian whose devotion and positive attitude toward his career, his country, his state and to his community are a matter of record:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Jerome Jackson of Kemper County, Mississippi, on the occasion of his retirement from active service with the Mississippi Highway Patrol and extend to him and his family the best wishes of the Senate and continued success in their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Jerome Jackson and his family and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
