A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MAGNOLIA HEIGHTS "CHIEFS" FOOTBALL TEAM AND COACH CLIFF YOUNG FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2002 SEASON.
WHEREAS, the Magnolia Heights "Chiefs" Football Team from Senatobia, Mississippi, completed the 2002 season with an outstanding 8-4 record and won the Mississippi Private School Association Class AAA Division 2 Championship; and
WHEREAS, the following team members attained special recognition in this excellent season: First Team All-Conference: Justin Delap, Defensive Line; Second Team All-Conference: David Reed, Running Back; Hayes Harris, Tight End; and Josh Irvin, Linebacker; Honorable Mention All-Conference: David Reed, Return Specialists; Walker Sudduth, Defensive Back; Levi Lance, Linebacker; Dan Patrick, Center; Tre' Rhines, Defensive Tackle; Thomas Pressley, Defensive Back; Kyle Spencer, Defensive Back; Trey Freeman, Offensive Tackle; Sidney Kidder, Offensive Guard; Laike Todd, Wide Receiver; Russ Sneed, Quarterback; Colby Pullen, Defensive End; All M.P.S.A. First Team: David Reed, Running Back; All M.P.S.A. Second Team: Justin Delap, Offensive Lineman and Josh Irvin, Linebacker; and
WHEREAS, the team was ably coached by Cliff Young and Assistant Coaches Tim Beard, Jeff Thigpen, Russ Whiteside, Bobby Bouchillon and Jim Patterson, who were impressed by this team's total effort and hard play, and the team was assisted by Managers Kalin Shirley, John Farrish, Hewston Vancil, Nate Williamson, Ryan Strickland and Jonathon Montgomery, Public Relations Assistant James Cahill and Team Photographer Judy Weeks; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the special achievement of this group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Magnolia Heights "Chiefs" Football Team and Coach Cliff Young for their outstanding 2002 season and M.P.S.A. Division 2-AAA Championship, and wish them continued success in their future athletic and academic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Magnolia Heights Headmaster Doctor Marvin Lishman and Principal/Athletic Director Jim Patterson on behalf of the team, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
