AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF SPECIAL FUNDS TO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE - DIVISION OF MEDICAID FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING MEDICAL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE MISSISSIPPI MEDICAID LAW AND DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE ADMINISTRATION OF SUCH LAW FOR FISCAL YEAR 2003.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the Budget Contingency Fund created in Section 27-103-301, Mississippi Code of 1972, to the Governor's Office - Division of Medicaid for the purpose of providing medical assistance under the Mississippi Medicaid Law and defraying the expenses of the administration of such law, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2003....
... $ 40,000,000.00.
SECTION 2. This additional appropriation is made for the purpose of preventing a deficit which would otherwise occur in the Governor's Office - Division of Medicaid.
SECTION 3. It is the intention of the Legislature that the Governor's Office - Division of Medicaid is hereby authorized to escalate, budget and expend funds from any source, not exceeding Ten Million Dollars ($10,000,000.00), which may become available to the division for the purpose of funding shortfalls which from time to time may occur due to decreases in state matching fund cash flow.
SECTION 4. The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the Director of the Division of Medicaid, as authorized by Section 43-13-113, Mississippi Code of 1972.
SECTION 5. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
